Room 16 Kirklandneuk

Friday 13 October 2017

Welcome to Room 16’s class blog. Primary 6a have all settled really well into our new class and are demonstrating excellent behaviour.

Primary 6 comes with a lot of roles and responsibilities and we are enjoying having our turns to show that we can be responsible and trusted with such important jobs within our school.

As a class we have been reading ‘There’s a Boy in the Girls Bathroom’ and we have enjoyed getting to know the main characters.  We particularly love trying to predict what might happen as a result of what we have read.

Our topic this term has been Brazil.  This has allowed us to enhance our knowledge of Brazil and comparisons with Scotland.  We have created fabulous sense poems relating to the Brazilian Carnivals and using pastels we have produced very colourful macaws.

We have completed our two week block of swimming lessons at Renfrew Victory Baths.  This has enabled us to become more confident swimmers and a highlight of ours was being allowed to jump into the pool at the end of each session.

This term in P.E. we have been focusing on refining our ball skills and developing our fitness.  We have also had the opportunity to learn some samba dancing and created routines which related to our Brazil topic.

We have started our new PATHS lessons this term and we have been enjoying learning about different feelings and emotions.  Pupil of the Day is part of our PATHS lessons and this is something the children really look forward to.  The Pupil of the Day give the children the opportunity to share compliments and we LOVE hearing the compliments from our friends and families.
