TERM 2 NOV 2012

This has been a very busy term for us and we have had lots of fun. Here are some of our highlights. SCOTLAND STREET SCHOOL TRIP To conclude our Social Studies, Primary 7 and Primary 6/7 enjoyed a visit to Scotland Street School Museum in Glasgow. This was one of the buildings designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and we had spent time learning about Victorian life to help answer our bug questions. It was interesting to see Mackintosh's designs around the building and we also experienced a Victorian School lesson led by an actress. The children found Victorian schooling to be quite terrifying but enjoyed dressing up and using the slate and quill to record their answers.
CONSTRUCTION SKILLS We were very fortunate to be visited by a company called Construction Skills this term. LindaJane set us a difficult challenge to build a 4m by 4m giant tetrahedron just using wooden dowels, elastic bands and our quality team work. We worked very hard as a team and succeeded in our challenge. It was an interesting morning learning more about the construction industry and it helped us to improve on our team work skills ensuring we were communicating and cooperating effectively. We were very proud of ourselves and were even able to walk through our structure.
ENTERPRISE – CHRISTMAS FAYRE On Saturday 17th November 2012 Primary 7 set up an Enterprising Games Room at the annual Christmas Fayre. We designed a range of games including Pin the nose on Rudolph, the Snowman's Flakes, Christmas Matching Pairs, Pick a Pocket, Throw the Bauble in the Bucket and held two raffles. A big big thank you to the Primary 7 helpers for working at our stalls and thank you to all who played our games. The money we raised will be put to good use later in the session. PACE As part of our Anti-bullying week, Primary 7 were very lucky to have a visit from PACE. The pupils had learned two songs prior to the visit. On Wednesday afternoon the staff arrived from PACE at 1pm and worked very hard with the pupils to create a play all about bullying. The rest of the school came along at half past 2 to watch the performance. Everyone was very impressed by the P7 performance and learned a very important message about bullying. Well done P7!
