We have been very busy recently.  We performed a ‘Burnstastic’ school assembly which focused on the life and work of Robert Burns.  This allowed everyone to perform in front of an audience and to recite some of Robert Burn’s famous poems and songs.  Our P6 poetry winners were Max and Heather and they done a fantastic job at reciting ‘A Man’s A Man For’ A That’.

We also had a fab time at the P6 Ceilidh in which we hosted alongside the PTA.  We focused on the traditions of a Burns Supper and took part in some Scottish dancing.  We all had a great time dancing and trying some haggis, neeps and tatties.

While learning about Robert Burns we were also very fortunate in being able to attend the Celtic Connections.  This was a fantastic day as we had the opportunity to enjoy some traditional Scottish and Brazilian music.  The first band got us all singing along with them which involved us using some Scots language.  The Brazilian musicians played very interesting instruments some in which we had never seen before.

This week is ‘World of Work Week’.  We have been learning lots about the skills and qualities required for different types of jobs.  We have been listening and taking notes during our visits from different people telling us about their jobs.  This week we have been completing some WOW Week related tasks for homework.  This has given us the opportunity to find out about the type of jobs the people in our family have and thinking more about the types of jobs that we would like to do when we are older.
